For items that have a certain shipping temperature that cannot be exceeded, it is possible to set up comments on the sales orders that print the temperature in the city to which the item is being shipped. This allows precautions to be made to prevent problems with the item on shipping.
When an item is set up with a shipping temperature, and the item is being shipped to a location with a temperature that is higher than the shipping temperature assigned to the item, the system will print the five-day forecast on the sales order for the city to which the item is being shipped.
The following set up is required:
Enter the ship temperature for the item.
Enter the zip code and country code for the customer's ship to addresses. This is what the system uses to determine the five day forecast.
Enter the sales order for the item and customer.
Manually or fully ship the sales order. When the sales order status changes from O- Complete to J - Confirmed Incomplete or S - Confirmed Complete, the system will check the Weather Channel web site. If the temperature for the city to which the item is being shipped (determined by the ship to zip code) is greater than the ship temperature assigned in program ICMM, Inventory Master Maintenance, a comment will be written to the sales order header containing the five-day forecast for the city.
For these and other sales order reports that print the sales order comments, the five day forecast will be printed on the reports.
