Program IPLM, Product Line Maintenance, is used to add, maintain, and delete product lines. Product lines are a subdivision of product codes. You must have product codes in order to have product lines. You cannot delete a product line if items are assigned to it in program ICMM, Inventory Master Maintenance.
Product code / product line combinations can be used in program CMMM, Customer Master Maintenance, to designate product line specific customer price groups for customers. These price groups can be used for default pricing during order entry. Product lines are also used in the Master Scheduling (MS) Module as a selection criterion for the forecasting and authorization of master schedules.
1. Query the product code to which you wish to assign product lines.
2. Go to the lower block.
3. Enter the product lines that you wish to assign to the product code.
Product lines attached to two different product codes can have the same name, but they are not shared between the product codes. For example, product code A can have a product line C, and product code B can have a product line C, but these are two different product lines even though they have the same name.
4. Press [Commit].
