Xephr
The Xephr Administration Console allows each host name to be associated with a Xephr Repository. Xephr repository is the database in which the Xephr metadata (the instructions telling Xephr what to do) is stored. Each host name can be associated with only one repository, although a repository can be associated with many host names.
When a user types in the virtual host into the browser address field, the URL needs to resolve to the Xephr server. The Xephr server uses the URL to decide which repository to return to the user.
Multiple repositories on the same Xephr server each must have at least one virtual host (alias). Depending on your set up, and whether or not the host is available only within your firewall, or externally on the internet, set up may be required for your DNS server's domain file and your firewall.
At the very least, you need to add aliases to your domain file that resolve the entered URL to the Xephr application server. If you have a firewall, and the virtual host is available externally, while the Xephr application server is internal, the firewall needs to recognize the virtual host and resolve it to the Xephr Application server within your network.
A Xephr repository is the database in which the Xephr metadata (the instructions telling Xephr what to do) is stored. A database or database user is created to contain the repository tables and indexes. Then, using the administrator console, the database user and password is assigned as a repository. This repository is then associated with a host as the default repository. A host can only be assigned one repository, but a repository can be assigned to multiple hosts.
A repository can be created from one of the following database types:
Microsoft SQL Server
Oracle 9i
PostgreSQL
Local Xephr QED Database
