New features added, version 7.5.3, 8.1
Program MURC, Report Class Definitions, is used to define report classes, the reports that belong to the report class, and the printers that can print those reports.
Report classes are ways to group reports in order to define the printers that can print the reports. The system is set up with report classes and the reports assigned to the report classes.
Report classes are also used for naming reports. Reports will be named as Report_Class+key1+sequence where key1 = 1st drilldown key. If a report does not have an assigned report class, the report will be named Program_Name+key1+sequence.
1. The system is set up with some report classes. You can enter new report classes, or you can assign printers and reports to existing report classes.
2. Enter the report class identifier and description, if you are entering a new report class. Otherwise, query the report class that you wish to maintain.
3. In the Seq No field, enter the sequence number for this report class.
The sequence number determines whether or not the report class will be entered automatically on sales orders. See the Email and Fax Variable Setup section for more information.
4. Press the [Reports] button to view the reports assigned to a report class. Reports are assigned to report classes on the Job Definitions Tab of program MUJM, Menu and Job Parameter Maintenance, in the report's program job definition.
5. Press the [Printers] button to assign printers to the report class.
If printers are not assigned to a report class, a warning will be displayed every time the report is printed. For example, if you tried to print an accounts receivable statement, and there are no printers set up for the report class, you will receive the message "Printing to (printer name) is not suitable for AR STATEMENTS". You will also receive this message if you are printing the report on a printer that you have not set up for the report class.
Once the warning has been displayed, you can choose to continue, or you can cancel and print the report on another printer that is assigned to the report class.
If you do not wish to have printers defined for the report class, you can delete the report class in this program. If you do wish to have printers set up for the report class, set them up in this program.
To delete a report class, the reports and printer that have been assigned to the report class must first be un-assigned.
6. Press the [Mail / Fax] button to define the subject and body text for emailed and faxed reports.
In the Type pop-list, select Fax or Mail. This will determine whether the entered subject and body text will be used for faxed reports or emailed reports.
In the Subject field, there are 2 approaches:
Enter the subject line for the email or fax. Otherwise, if the reports are emailed or faxed, the subject line will be the title of the report from the Job Definitions Tab of program MUJM, Menu and Job Parameter Maintenance.
Enter substitute tokens (^BLOCK.ITEM^) to be translated on the outgoing string with the actual data values. EXAMPLE: "Please find the attached invoice ^c.invno^ for your customer po ^c.cust_po^. Sincerely ^global.emp_name^.
In the Body of message field, enter the body text for the email or fax in the Body Text field. Or enter substitute tokens. See example above.
If no entry is made here, the body text for emails and faxes will contain the words 'See Attached File.'
You can use advanced features of your fax server, such as attaching cover sheets or documents, by entering the parameters in the Body Text field. For more information, see your fax server documentation.
In the From field, enter the default email address from which the email will be sent. When reports are emailed, this value will be used first. If this value is null, then the employee's email will be used. If no employee email is available, the email in the MAIL_FROM parameter in program MURM, Initialization Parameter Maintenance, will be used.
