The Modular Bill (MB) Module consists of programs that allow you to set up and configure modular bills.
Modular bills allow a customer to choose the parts that will be assembled to create the item that the customer is buying.
The items that can make up a modular item are assigned to that item in program MOTM, Modular Bill Maintenance. Modular items, kits, and prompts are all entered in program MOTM, Modular Bill Maintenance. Inventory items that are assigned to modular items are still entered in program ICMM, Inventory Master Maintenance.
Modular items are then added to a sales order in program OEOE, Sales Order Entry Maintenance, and can be configured to the customer's specification in program OEOE, Sales Order Entry Maintenance.
Four types of models can be constructed, models, kits, prompts, and planning bills.
* Models are configurable and can be sold. Configurable means that they have prompts assigned to them to allow a selection of different items to make up the model. Models, prompts, inventory items, and kits can be assigned to models.
* Kits are not configurable and can be sold. Kits cannot have prompts assigned to them and are not allowed a selection of different items. Kits have a certain set of items assigned to them, with no other options. Kits can have kits and inventory items assigned to them.
* Prompts are used in the configuration of models. Prompts allow you to choose which item of a selection of items that you want to have in the construction of your model item. Prompts can have models, kits, and inventory items assigned to them. A prompt cannot be directly assigned to another prompt.
* Planning bills are a future feature, and currently have no use.
Once the model item has been configured in program OEOE, Sales Order Entry Maintenance, the item is allocated to sales and a work order can be created for it. When the work order has been completed and received, the model item can be shipped with program OESC, Shipping Confirmation.
Kit items are different. When kit items are order in program OEOE, Sales Order Entry Maintenance, they cannot be configured. The kit item is not allocated to sales. Instead, the component items of the kit are allocated, and the component items are shipped with program OESC, Shipping Confirmation.
