IPCM - Product Code Maintenance

See Also Programs

Program IPCM, Product Code Maintenance, is used to add, maintain, and delete product codes, their descriptions, and flag settings. A product code can be deleted only if no items are currently assigned to it in program ICMM, Inventory Master Maintenance, and if no product lines are assigned to it in program IPLM, Product Line Maintenance.

These codes are assigned to items in program ICMM, Inventory Master Maintenance, and then used in programs throughout the system. You must have a product group to use a product code. They can be used in combination with product groups from program IPGM, Product Group Maintenance, to create product group matrices in program IPMM, Product Group Matrix Maintenance.

Product codes can be used to differentiate inventory transactions for general ledger posting accounts in program GPTM, Posting Template Maintenance.

Material types can be assigned to a product code to create product lines. Each product code has its own set of material types, and you must have a product code to have material types and product lines. Items can be assigned to a product group, a product code, and a product line.

The following sort options use product codes: sales commissions, customer pricing, general ledger interface, and material requirements planning (MRP) report.
