Program ICAM, Supersede/Substitute Maintenance, is used to establish items that require or allow substitute items to be supplied or to establish items that have been superseded by another item number.
These items will be used in program OEOE, Sales Order Entry Maintenance, program OQEM, Sales Order Quotation Entry/Maintenance, and program ARIE, One Step Invoice Entry.
It is assumed that the original item number will not be used again and the item will always be superseded by the specified item. It is possible to have multiple levels of the superseded item. Item A can be superseded by item B and at a later date, item B can be superseded by item C.
When an item is superseded, a line item comment is written to show the original item entered and the item by which it was superseded regardless of multiple levels of items specified in program ICAM, Supersede/Substitute Maintenance.
If the OE_ADD_SUPERSEDE_COMMENTS
parameter in program MURM, Initialization Parameter Maintenance,
is set to N, no comment will be written.
1. In the Unit field, if the supersede item is restricted to a specific manufacturing enterprise, enter the desired manufacturing enterprise.
2. In the Plant field, if the supersede item is restricted to a specific plant, enter the desired plant code.
3. In the Item No field, enter the item number to be superseded.
4. In the Superseded by Item No field, enter the item number that will supersede the item in the Item No field.
5. Set the Substitute flag to off.
6. In the Effective From Date field, enter the first date from which thereafter the item will be superseded.
7. The effective to date is not applicable for superseded items.
8. Press [Commit].
1. In the Test Item field, enter the item for which you wish to view the final supersede item.
2. In the Test Unit field, enter the manufacturing enterprise for which you wish the view the final supersede item for the test item.
3. In the Test Plant field, enter the plant for which you wish the view the final supersede item for the test item.
4. In the Test Date field, enter the date for which you wish the view the final supersede item for the test item. The default is the system date.
5. Press the [Show Final Supersede Item] button. A pop-up screen will display the final supersede item for the entered test item.
Multiple substitutes can be available for one item. Use of a substitution item is optional in the sales order entry programs.
In program OEOE, Sales Order Entry Maintenance, program OQEM, Sales Order Quotation Entry/Maintenance, or program ARIE, One Step Invoice Entry, after entering the item number in the line item detail, press the [Substitute] button to display a list of appropriate item numbers allowed for substitution in program ICAM, Supersede/Substitute Maintenance.
If substitute items are available for an order line, the words Substitute Available will be displayed below the order line in program OEOE, Sales Order Entry Maintenance.
1. In the Unit field, if the item substitution is restricted to a specific manufacturing enterprise, enter the desired manufacturing enterprise.
2. In the Plant field, if the item substitution is restricted to a specific plant, enter the desired plant code.
3. In the Item No field, enter the item number that will be substituted by another item.
4. In the Superseded by Item No field, enter the item number of the item that will be used as a substitute for the item in the Item No field.
5. Set the Substitute flag to on.
6. In the Effective From Date field, enter the first date in the range of dates for which the substitute item will replace the item in the Item No field.
7. In the Effective To Date field, enter the last date in the range of dates for which the substitute item will replace the item in the Item No field.
8. Press [Commit].
Press this button to view the final supersede item for the entered test item, manufacturing enterprise, plant, and date.
