Exporting Selections to Export Table
Exporting Selections to CSV Files
Before exporting the selected customers/prospects/contacts to a CSV file, the selections can be stored in an export table until all desired selections have been made for the CSV export. The data in the export table can be viewed and maintained with the Export Tab.
1. On the CSV tab, the Export Options are displayed. The information in the left section is for CSV exports. In the right section, verify that the desired flags are set to on.
2. Set the Create Table Entries - Append flag to on to append the current selections to those already on the Export tab.
3. Set the Create Table Entries - Overwrite flag to on to overwrite the entries on the Export tab with the current selection.
4. Set the Filter for Mailing flag to the desired setting.
* When set to on, the exported records will be filtered according to the procuser.sql custom filter routine.
* A separate filtering routine can be set up in your custom procuser.sql file for each export type (mass other, mass us, and selected).
* Filtered records are written to the Filter File defined here.
* Records that were not removed by the filtering routine are written to the export file defined in the File Name field.
5. Unless you are writing a CSV file at the same time as you are doing the export to the table, you don't need to set the CSV settings. If you are writing to a CSV file at the same time, see the Exporting Selections to CSV Files for more information on the CSV settings.
6. Press the [Create and Filter] button to perform the export.
* The data in the export table can be viewed and maintained with the Export Tab.
* The Export Counts Tab displays the counts associated with exporting to files and to the table.
* The Selection Counts Tab displays the counts of the records currently selected by each record's source.
1. On the CSV tab, the Export Options are displayed. The information in the left section is for CSV exports. On the right of the screen, there are additional settings on this screen for exporting to the Export Tab.
* If you are writing to the Export Tab at the same time, see the Exporting Selections to Export Table section for more information on these settings.
2. In the File Location pop-list, select the location to which the file will be written. Choices are Client Server or Database Server.
* When Client Server is selected, the file will be written to the defined file name location on the local computer on which you are running the program.
* When Database Server is selected, the file will be written to the defined file name location on the database server.
* Client Server is no longer an option in NDS Version 8 on Oracle 10g.
3. In the File Name field, enter the directory and file name that will be exported. To use the default directory, enter only the file name in the File Name field.
* Any data file type can be exported.
* You can type the desired directory and file name into the field, such as C:\ndslocalfiles\export.csv
* The directory to which you will export the file cannot have spaces in the directory name.
* The default directory for exports to the Client Server is defined by the CMSU_EXPORT_DIR parameter in program MURM, Initialization Parameter Maintenance.
* The default directory for exports to the Database Server is defined by the UTL_FILE_DIR parameter in program MURM, Initialization Parameter Maintenance.
* You can use the [...] to find the data file on your computer or network. Press the button, find the desired file, and press [Open]. The program will enter the directory and file in the field.
