Product Configurator

Modular items entered with the modular bill module can be configured during sales order entry with the sales order processing module. After configuration, an assembly work order may be created for the modular item. When the work order has been completed, the item can be shipped.

The features in this module include:

  • Multiple items can be configured with the same configuration at the same time
  • Items with different configurations can be entered on the same sales order
  • Additional inventory items and modular items can be added to a model item during configuration
  • The configuration for a model item must be valid before a work order can be generated for the item
  • Configuration validity is governed by the attributes and by the minimum and maximum items for prompts
  • Mandatory attributes must be met before a work order can be generated for an item
  • Attributes explanations and where they are used can be viewed during configuration
  • Modular bill configuration can be viewed in four different ways:
    • The tree view is an indented view structure indicating the levels of the prompts, kits, and inventory items that are a part of the model item
    • The working view expands all prompts and models for which a selection must be made
    • The flat bill of maintenance shows only the inventory items selected for the configured model item
    • The inventory availability view allows you to see the quantity available for each of the selected component items
  • Pricing for components and models are governed using all available NDS pricing options:
    • Model Pricing, where a model item has one specific price regardless of component pricing, can be applied to models, including modular items at the component level
    • Model item prices can be calculated by the sum of the component prices
    • Discounts and list prices for components and modular items can be applied from the pricing matrix
    • Margin pricing can be applied to modular items
  • Component item pricing can be displayed
  • Available to promise inventory information can be viewed for an item
  • Buying and selling information can be viewed for the item
  • Reservation of controlled component items
  • Stock quantities can be viewed for an item
  • Units of measure and their conversion factors can be viewed for an item
  • Routings can be entered for model items
  • Routings have the option of being modified during configuration
  • Routings can be entered for model items at any level in the configuration
  • Components selected during configuration can be viewed from the sales order for the model item
  • Model item configuration can be updated if the model item record is changed in the model item maintenance program
  • String Configuration where a string of characters entered on the sales order line will configure the model item automatically
  • Fixed quantity components or quantity per assembly components can be assigned to models
  • Automatic configuration of modular product based on property values which determine the configuration
